Tarcísio confirms second death from explosion in Jaguaré, in SP

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitascconfirmed this Thursday (14) the second death after an explosion in Jaguaréwest zone of São Paulo. One person had already died at the scene on the day of the incident, last Monday (11).

The victim who died was hospitalized in serious condition at the Osasco Regional Hospital. Others two people were injured in the explosion: one was treated at the University Hospital of USP, who was discharged, and one was at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP, in stable condition.

“Our focus now will be on reconstruction”, said Tarcísio, when also talking about the investigation work into the explosion to “understand exactly what happened, to improve construction procedures to punish those responsible” and apply sanctions to companies.

. The properties identified in the green category were released for immediate return to families, totaling 86 residences. In the yellow category, residents can only remove belongings.

Properties classified as orange require Civil Defense monitoring for access and removal of personal objects, a situation involving 14 residences. The five houses in the red category remain completely closed due to high structural risk.

Of the 105 properties inspected after the explosion 86 were released for the return of their families until Tuesday night (12), according to the São Paulo Government’s balance sheet.

The accident occurred on Monday (11). Others 14 residences remain under precautionary closure e five were completely closed due to the risk of collapse.

The concessionaires reported that, until Tuesday afternoon (12), 194 people had been registered to receive immediate emergency aid, increased to R$5,000. Families are also being accommodated in hotels and receive social support.
