Summit in Beijing: Donald Trump talks about great trade deals and Iran after meeting with Xi Jinping

President Donald Trump flew back to Washington on Friday after an important summit in Beijing with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He previously said he had reached “great trade deals” and the two also discussed Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

  • After the summit in Beijing, Donald Trump announced the achievement of great mutual trade agreements.
  • Trump and Xi Jinping agreed on the need to end the war in Iran.
  • Both leaders supported the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.
  • Trump attributed the decline of the United States to the government of Joe Biden and his administration.

Trade agreements and Iran

Trump says that during his visit to Beijing, he and Sim solved “a lot of different problems that other people haven’t been able to solve.” The friendship between him and the Chinese president is strong, he said, and they have achieved “some great things.” According to him, the trade agreements they reached are great for both countries.

The topic of their Friday meeting was also the war in Iran. Trump says the two countries agree on ending the war, and that the Islamic Republic must not have a nuclear weapon. They also agree on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz to be opened again.

Joe Biden’s government was also a topic

China’s foreign ministry on Friday called for a “comprehensive and permanent ceasefire” in response to a question about whether Xi and Trump had held talks on Iran. “In response to the calls of the international community, maritime routes should be reopened as soon as possible,” the department added.

The US president said on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday night that when Xi “suggested very elegantly” that the US may be a declining country, he said he was referring to the “enormous” damage the United States has suffered under President Joe Biden and his administration. According to Trump, Xi was “one hundred percent right”.

Trump boasted on the social network

“President Xi was not referring to the fantastic rise that the United States has shown the world during the 16 spectacular months of the Trump administration, which have included all-time highs in stock markets and (employee retirement plan) 401(k), military victory and prosperous relations in Venezuela, military destruction of Iran (to be continued next time!),” Trump wrote.

According to him, the President of China congratulated him on “so many tremendous achievements in such a short time.”

He agrees with Sim that the US was in decline two years ago, but is now the “most attractive” country in the world. He expressed hope that US-China relations will be stronger and better than ever before.
