Even before arriving at the Santana Women’s Penitentiary, in the north of São Paulo, according to reports from criminal police officers heard by the column, Deolane Bezerra must stay in a room used by inmates awaiting medical appointments prepared especially to receive it.

On October 2, 1992, 111 prisoners died during the police action that became known as the Carandiru Massacre. The complex was demolished years later.
The Penitentiary Administration Secretariat was contacted to comment on the case, but had not yet responded until the publication of this report. The space remains open for official positioning.
