Justice releases R$2 billion in arrears for 132 thousand retirees and pensioners

Council authorizes payment of RPVs to INSS policyholders after favorable decisions in social security reviews

More than 132 thousand retirees and pensioners in the National Social Security Institute will receive R$2.08 billion in arrears after court decisions. THE Federal Justice Council authorized on Thursday (May 21, 2026) the release of R$ 2.5 billion to pay 208 thousand beneficiaries who won lower-value lawsuits against the Union.

The amounts released by the CJF are intended to pay RPVs (Small Value Requests). These requests are payments that the federal government needs to make after losing lawsuits worth up to 60 minimum wages. The monthly transfer of resources to the TRFs (Federal Regional Courts) to settle actions already closed in court.

The R$2.08 billion allocated to actions linked to the INSS include reviews of pensions, sick pay, pensions and other social security and assistance benefits.

The TRFs will be responsible for defining when the amounts will be deposited. Payments will follow each court’s schedule. The withdrawal dates can be found on the court websites.
