Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) met in Washington this Wednesday (27) with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, and with Darren Beattie, US President Donald Trump’s envoy to Brazil.
The meetings were confirmed by journalist Paulo Figueiredo, an ally of the Bolsonaro family.
The senator, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro — who is serving a sentence under house arrest — had met on Tuesday with Trump in the Oval Office of the White House.
Flávio Bolsonaro said he and Trump discussed organized crime, rare earths and the situation of the former president, who is serving a 27-year sentence under house arrest after being convicted of conspiracy against democracy.
The meetings in Washington take place amid a political crisis faced by the senator, after he admitted to having asked the former owner of the Master bank, Daniel Vorcaro, now in prison, for resources to finance a film about his father. The senator denies irregularities.
