Man accused of planning an attack at a Taylor Swift concert sentenced to 15 years in prison | International

An Austrian court sentenced a 21-year-old man to 15 years in prison this Thursday who admitted to having planned a foiled Islamist attack that was to take place during a concert in Vienna, the Austrian capital, at the Ernst Happel stadium in 2024. The young man has been found guilty of several crimes, mainly related to terrorism.

The trial of two 21-year-olds began at the end of April between . The two suspects, an Austrian and a Slovak, entered the courtroom in the city of Wiener Neustadt, about 50 kilometers from Vienna, with their faces covered and handcuffed.

The Austrian, Beran A., pleaded guilty to planning the attack. Both men faced sentences of up to 20 years in prison for all the charges against them, which included planning knife attacks in several cities in the Middle East.
