Tragic ATV accident in Kysucie: A helicopter flew to the scene! They could no longer help the man

Two men were injured after a quad bike hit a tree in Kysucie on Thursday (May 28), one of whom succumbed to his injuries during transport to the hospital. Mountain rescuers from the Kysucké Beskydy, Žilina air rescue crew and firefighters intervened in the forest terrain in the Lodna area of ​​the Kysucké Nové Mesto district. The helicopter rescue medical service (VZZS) Air – Transport Europe informed about it on the social network.

The doctor was lowered into place using an on-board winch. “She took into her care a 76-year-old man with severe, life-threatening injuries to several parts of his body. After providing emergency medical care, the patient was quickly evacuated from the place. However, during the flight, his health deteriorated significantly and the rescuers had to start extended cardiopulmonary resuscitation, also using the EasyPulse automatic resuscitation device,” paramedics added, saying that despite their best efforts, the patient’s circulation could not be restored and he succumbed to his injuries during transport.

After treatment, the second, 64-year-old man was taken by an all-terrain vehicle of the Mountain Rescue Service to Lodno, where he was taken over by an ambulance crew. The driver of the four-wheeler was taken to the hospital, where a blood sample was ordered to determine the presence of alcohol.

“In connection with this incident, a member of the District Department of the Kysucké Nové Mesto Police Force was assigned initiated a criminal prosecution in the matter of manslaughter. Other circumstances of the tragic event are the subject of an ongoing investigation,” explained the Žilina Regional Police on the social network.

The crew of Žilina air rescuers spent a total of 307 minutes in the air on Thursday. During the day, in addition to the tragic event in London, she intervened in other events, such as, for example in hard-to-reach forest terrain in the Harvelka location near Nová Bystrica, where a 52-year-old sawyer seriously injured his hand. “After treatment and administration of analgesic treatment, he was evacuated from the field using an on-board winch and airlifted to a hospital in Čadec,” added the VZZS.
