Voestalpine defies US tariffs and car crisis with a jump in profits

Vienna/Linz – The listed steel group voestalpine significantly improved its results in the past 2025/26 financial year (at the end of March). Group profits rose by almost 138 percent to 424 million euros “despite the volatile environment,” the company announced on Wednesday. The US tariffs of 50 percent on steel that have been in effect since June 4, 2025 would have had a negative impact on the result “in the high double-digit million euro amount”. Sales fell from 15.7 to 15.1 billion euros.
