The player Wesley França was officially cut of the Brazilian National Team and will not be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup due to a thigh injurysuffered in this Saturday’s friendly (6) against Egypt. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informed in a statement that the athlete was re-evaluated by the medical committee and underwent an imaging exam this Sunday (7).
One magnetic resonance imaging found injury to the adductor muscle of the left thigh of the defender, preventing him from remaining with the team at the World Cup. In the statement, the CBF regretted the player’s departure. “Wesley is an athlete loved by the group and will always be considered part of this team that seeks a sixth world championship.”
With the athlete’s removal, the CBF announced that his place will be taken by midfielder Édersonwho currently defends the Atalanta team in Serie A of the Italian Championship. The player should join coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team this Mondayus United States.
