Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro stated that she will ask for an extension of the humanitarian house arrest of her husband, former president Jair Bolsonaro, and that, at the right time, she will help in the campaign for the Presidency of the Republic of her stepson, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).
Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes granted humanitarian house arrest to Bolsonaro on March 24, for a period of 90 days. The period ends at the end of this month.
“I hope he stays at home. We will certainly (ask the minister for more time), especially because he (Bolsonaro) needs to be at home to ask for all the care. One year and two months with this hiccups crisis,” she told journalists as she left an event.
Michelle also said that, as long as she needs to take care of her husband, she should not run for senator in this year’s elections.
“The priority is my home, my husband. I can’t think about tomorrow if today I need to be firm and strong to take care of him. He really wants (for me to run), but I think I’ve already made my contribution. If I have to stay at home taking care of him, I’ll stay”, she stated.
Bolsonaro had an “atypical” day on Monday, the 8th, according to Michelle, due to nausea with medication. She mentioned “tiredness” and a “hangover” in relation to the treatment.
Michelle stated that she does not have a meeting scheduled with Moraes to request an extension, and that the matter is being handled by lawyers.
Asked if she will help Flávio’s campaign, she replied that “at the right time, for sure”. “Now the one who needs care is my husband,” she said.
The former first lady participated in the event launching the pre-candidacy for the Chamber of Deputies of district deputy Thiago Manzoni (PL), in Brasília.
