A member of the Palmeiras social club, accused of being on the institution’s premises, stated this Friday (12) that he only became aware of the accusations through the club’s statement and the press, according to his defense.
His lawyers also denied the allegations and asked for access to the proceedings. The process continues under judicial secrecy.
The text also says that the defense makes itself available to the authorities to clarify the facts that occurred..
The São Paulo Civil Police is investigating the case. The case was first publicized by Ge and confirmed by Estadão.
According to a note from the São Paulo State Department of Public Security (SSP), the case occurred on Wednesday (10). The victim’s mother gave a statement, reporting the facts at the 4th Police Station for the Defense of Women (DDM – North) and also called the Military Police.
The child was sent for examinations at the Legal Medical Institute and the case is being investigated by the 3rd DDM (West).
Palmeiras position
In a note, the Palmeiras reported that he was contacted by the child’s mother to report a case of abuse within the headquarters premises. A club doctor treated the child and lawyers were available to assist the family during their statement to the police.
Also according to Palmeiras, the material obtained through security cameras was forwarded to the authorities. President Leila Pereira also determined the immediate suspension of an associate suspected of involvement in the casewhich will be expelled from the association if the authorship of the crime is proven.
“Palmeiras vehemently repudiates any form of violence or abuse and will spare no effort to ensure that the facts are quickly clarified.”
