The secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, condemned this Sunday (14) Israel’s attack on Lebanon at a time when mediators are bringing Iran and the United States closer to an agreement.
“I strongly condemn today’s Israeli attacks on Beirut. The attacks occurred despite the ceasefire and at a time when the US and Iran are expected to reach an agreement that will pave the way for a peaceful resolution of this conflict,” said Guterres, in a publication on X.
According to him, the war between the USA, Israel and Iran has had a “devastating impact on the world economy.”
“I urge all parties to demonstrate maximum restraint at this crucial moment and strongly hope for a successful outcome of the ongoing US and Iranian efforts,” Guterres said.
