Official signing ceremony should take place next Friday
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Sunday that the agreement with Iran is concluded and that the US naval blockade will be lifted immediately, allowing the Strait of Hormuz to fully reopen.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations everyone!”
The American president added that he authorizes “the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz” and, simultaneously, “the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade.”
“Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” concluded Trump.
The statement comes just hours after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the peace agreement between Washington and Tehran had already been reached and that the official signing ceremony should take place in Switzerland on June 19. Sharif also said that both sides agreed to an “immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.”
Despite these signs of approximation, doubts persist about the schedule and even the definitive conclusion of the negotiations. On Saturday, Iranian officials ruled out the possibility of an immediate signature, although they admitted that the agreement could be formalized in the coming days.
Also this Sunday, the Iranian agency Fars, citing a source close to the process, assured that Tehran has not yet made a final decision on the framework agreement being negotiated, especially after the Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. In fact, during the afternoon the Iranian regime forces even promised retaliation.
