Iran says agreement provides for an end to attacks on Lebanon and the release of frozen US$24 billion; read list

Iranian state media released this Sunday (14) a list of 14 alleged terms for the peace agreement between Iran and the United States. Among them is the release of $24 billion in Iranian funds that are frozen during the 60-day period of final negotiations. According to the Mehr News agency, half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin.

Furthermore, Iran foresees the end of US attacks on Iranian territory with the withdrawal of its forces from areas around the country.

Read the full list of terms:

  1. The permanent and immediate suspension of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
  2. The U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  3. The complete lifting of the naval blockade in 30 days.
  4. The US commitment to withdraw its forces from areas around Iran.
  5. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in 30 days, according to Iranian “agreements”.
  6. The suspension of sanctions on oil, petrochemical products and their derivatives, and Iran’s full access to the financial resources arising from them.
  7. The requirement that the US and its allies submit reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion.
  8. Sixty days of negotiations to reach a final agreement based on nuclear issues and the complete lifting of US primary and secondary sanctions, as well as UN Security Council and IAEA Board of Governors resolutions.
  9. Iran’s reiteration of its commitment, under the NPT, not to produce nuclear weapons.
  10. During the negotiation period, the US committed not to increase its forces in the region and not to impose new sanctions.
  11. The release of $24 billion in Iranian funds frozen during the 60-day period of final negotiations. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin.
  12. The formation of a supervisory mechanism to implement the agreement.
  13. The final agreement will be approved through a UN Security Council resolution.
  14. Final negotiations will not begin until half of Iran’s frozen funds are released, sanctions on Iranian oil are lifted and the naval blockade is lifted. The final agreement will be limited to the fate of enriched materials and uranium enrichment, sanctions relief and the Iranian economic reconstruction program. Discussions about Iran’s missile program and support for resistance groups were permanently removed from the agenda.

Agreement decision

In a triumphant tone, the President of the United States confirmed this Sunday the conclusion of an agreement with Iran. “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now concluded. Congratulations to everyone!”, he said on his Truth Social network.

He also stated that he authorized the withdrawal of the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz region. “Through this post, I fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, simultaneously, I authorize the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade,” he declared. “Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” he added.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed the peace agreement that immediately halts all military operations in the Middle East, including in Lebanon, and whose signing will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday, June 19th.

“With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the groundwork for technical talks and the official signing ceremony,” X Sharif, a key mediator in the Middle East war, wrote online.
