The president of the United States, Donald Trumpdefended this Wednesday the agreement he has reached with Iran and has assured that it will avoid “economic catastrophe” that would have occurred if the conflict had been prolonged. Avoiding all the criticism received for the demands that Tehran has managed to impose in the memorandum of understandingTrump assured that he meets the objectives set “and much more.”
“I didn’t want to see an economic catastrophe. If this had continued, this is what would have happened. (…) We have reached an agreement that achieves everything we set out to do, everything and much more: ending the current conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and prevent Iran from ever obtaining a arma nuclear”said the Republican in his final press conference of the G7 summit, which was held between Monday and Wednesday in the spa town of Évian-les-Bains.
The American leader stressed that the pact reached with the Islamic Republic is a memorandum of understanding which must lead to a final peace agreement in 60 days. And if it is not signed, he added, “no problem, we will bomb again.” “I don’t want to do it because it’s very good, but maybe we have to do it because we will never allow them to have a nuclear weapon,” he stressed.
The “toughest” president
Trump reiterated that the regime has agreed to renounce the atomic bomb and “it is seen very clearly in the agreement.” “If they don’t comply, we will probably bomb them again until they comply,” he reiterated, after praising himself for being the “toughest” president with the Persian country of all history.
