Coach Carlo Ancelotti considered that Brazil’s performance in the 3-0 victory over Haiti, in the second round of Group C of the World Cup, met expectations. The coach assessed that the football presented this Friday (19), in Philadelphia, was better than the 1-1 draw with Morocco, last Saturday (13), in New Jersey (United States).
“That’s what I expected for this game. Improved quality. Fewer mistakes, more control. I think, defensively, it was a good game. We improved and we will improve [mais]. TLet’s take advantage of the group stage to reach the knockout stage well”, projected Ancelotti, in a press conference after the match.
This does not mean, however, that the Italian is thinking about the knockout phase of the World Cup. According to the coach, attention is focused on the third and final clash in Group C, next Wednesday (24), at 7pm (Brasília time)against Scotland, in Miami.
“We are not thinking about the knockout stage, but playing well against Scotland. [Queremos] If possible, reach first position [do Grupo C]which could be important, so we have to prepare well for this game. Scotland has its characteristics and can create problems for us, as it did for Morocco [ou europeus foram derrotados por 1 a 0, em Boston, também nesta sexta]. It’s about being calm, calm and continuing to work to improve”, he stated.
For the duel against the Scots, Ancelotti hopes to have Neymar available. The attacker, in the final stretch of recovery from a grade two injury to his right calf, did not even travel to Philadelphia and remained in New Jersey, continuing the physical preparation to return to the pitch.
“Neymar will train tomorrow [sábado, dia 20]individual. On Monday [22]he will be with the team and then he will be prepared for the game against Scotland”, guaranteed the coach.
