The organizers of the Rock pod Kameň festival shocked their enthusiasts with unexpected news shortly before its start. The festival, which was supposed to take place from June 25 to 27 in the Topovné area in Bela nad Cirochou in the Snina district, will not take place on the planned date. The organizers announced on the social network that they are moving the 23rd year to a new date, which they will publish after confirming all the necessary details.
They made a fundamental decision. “This is one of the most difficult announcements we have had to write during the many years of the ROCK UNDER KAMEŇOM festival. After a thorough assessment of the whole situation, we have decided that the ROCK UNDER KAMEŇOM 2026 festival will not take place on the originally planned date and will be moved to a new date, which we will inform you of as soon as we have confirmed all the necessary details. The reason is the economic reality of organizing large music events,” they announced.
They tried to solve everything until the last moment. “During the last months, we did our best to make the festival happen on the scheduled date. We worked intensively on the marketing campaign, brought new names to the program, prepared various discounted events, group discounts, pushed for capacity, competitions and other activities to support ticket sales. We believed that we would manage to create conditions that would ensure stability for the festival,” they continued.
Organizers talk about increased costs for performers’ fees, rental of stages, sound and lighting equipment, transport, energy, fencing, sanitary facilities, security services, health supervision, fire protection, event insurance, personnel costs, fees to collective rights management organizations, including SOZA, and a number of other mandatory items are growing every year.
At the same time, according to them, conditions on the part of agencies and performers have changed significantly in recent years. “A large number of bands today demand high advance payments and in many cases even payment of the entire fee before the actual performance. This means that the organizer has to spend huge funds months before the festival gates open without any guarantee of the resulting ticket sales,” they explained.
The organizers do not want to risk anything. “We were able to proceed with the belief that everything would save the last few weeks of pre-sales. However, we do not consider this a responsible solution towards visitors, performers, suppliers or all the people who participate in the festival“, they decided. “We will publish further information, including the new date and conditions of validity of purchased tickets,” added.
