The senator (-DF) took advantage of a meeting of parliamentarians with the president of the (Superior Electoral Court), last week, to ask for more agility from the court in removing content from networks.
She expressed concern about the spread of deep fakes and said that female candidates will be the main target during the election campaign.
Therefore, Damares suggested the creation of a task force in the electoral court, in addition to stricter resolutions that promote the immediate removal of content, including messaging applications.
This year, the TSE changed the resolution that deals with electoral propaganda by parties, candidates and internet providers.
The objective is to publicize untrue facts and cause damage to certain candidacies.
Despite having already issued resolutions on the topic, the court may change the rules before the October elections. In 2022, for example, the electoral court banned the transport of weapons by CACs (collectors, shooters and hunters).
Representatives Soraya Santos (PL-RJ) and Delegate Katarina (PSD-SE) and the governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão (PP), participated in the meeting with the president of the TSE.
According to those present at the meeting, Nunes Marques was sensitive and gave a positive signal regarding the request, but did not give details of how the court might act.
The parliamentarians also asked that, starting from the next election, the presidents of women’s movements be protected from deep fakes, even if they are not candidates.
The example used is that of the former first lady who, in the last election, was president of Mulher, but did not run as a candidate and became a target on the networks.
