Collapse leaves one dead and two injured in the east of SP

The collapse of a townhouse on Engenheiro Costa Ourique street, in Cangaíba, in the east zone of São Pauloleft one person dead and two others injured in the early hours of Wednesday (24).

According to the Fire Department, around ten people lived in the house that collapsed around midnight.

The first floor of the site, which functions as a tenement, collapsed in an area of ​​approximately 30 m² and left three victims buried. To remove materials and assist in rescuing people, teams from the Search and Rescue Group for Collapsed Structures were called.

One of the victims was removed from the rubble with cardiorespiratory arrest. However, the death was confirmed at the scene.

Furthermore, a man was taken to the Planalto Emergency Room with leg injuries. Another person suffered minor injuries and dismissed treatment. At the scene, there were around and 11 vehicles and 37 firefighters.

According to the Civil Defense, which attended the incident, the place was closed. The agency also pointed out that the property had rental rooms.

About 37 people, between adults and children, They must be allocated to places in available shelters. Also according to the agency, “the technical inspection is scheduled for this Wednesday (24), during the morning, and will be carried out by the Subprefecture of Penha”.

The SSP (Public Security Secretariat) reported that the São Paulo Civil Police are investigating what happened. Expertise was called in and the case was registered at the 24th Police District (Ponte Rasa) as collapse and suspicious death. The circumstances of the occurrence are still being investigated.
