Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stated, in a statement released by the IRNA agency (Iranian state media), that it carried out a joint operation with missiles and drones against targets linked to the United States in Kuwait and Bahrain, in response to “recent aggressions” by Washington.
According to the note attributed to the press office of the Revolutionary Guard, the group’s naval and aerospace forces launched between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm (Brasília time) this Saturday, the 27th, ballistic missiles and drones against “eight important infrastructures” at the Ali al-Salem base, in Kuwait, and against the United States Fifth Fleet in the port of Salman, in Bahrain, claiming that the targets were “destroyed”.
The statement also states that the US had attacked, in the early hours of the morning, five coastal posts of the Islamic Republic “under the pretext” of retaliating for an action by the Guard Navy against an “offending” ship.
The Revolutionary Guard says that, according to the understanding reached in Islamabad, traffic control arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz would be up to Tehran and threatens to tighten its approach against vessels considered irregular.
Washington confirmed the offensive and American President Donald Trump even threatened “the existence” of Iran. “There may come a time when we will no longer be able to act sensibly and we will be forced to militarily complete the task we began so successfully. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will cease to exist,” he wrote.
The Guard also claims that a violation of the ceasefire would be contrary to the “first article” of Islamabad’s understanding and could lead to a general disruption of proceedings.
