Outside of (‘s) campaign team, the Minister of Labor and Employment, (PT), participated in a dinner last Friday (26) with around 200 people from the stork sector to keep channels of dialogue open between the federal government and car transporters, on the eve of the electoral period. The meeting took place in Flores da Cunha (RS).
At dinner, Marinho defended the government’s actions to representatives of Sinaceg (National Union of Cegonheiros), which brings together businesspeople in the sector, and Feiceg (Interstate Federation of Cegonheiros).
The storks’ dinner has been taking place for more than two decades. Flores da Cunha is one of the main references in the category in the country, as it concentrates families and companies that helped to develop road transport of vehicles. Marinho, who was once mayor of São Bernardo do Campo, in ABC, which also has professional storks, gave up running for office to remain in government at Lula’s request.
The truck drivers category as a whole, with a history of support for the (PL) government, is a sensitive sector for the Lula administration, which throughout its mandate outlined specific public policies for the category — in March, amid threats of strike resulting from increases in the price of oil, Lula zeroed the PIS and Cofins rate on diesel, among other measures with a projected impact of R$30 billion, to be offset by a tax on oil exports.
The following month, the government expanded Move Brasil — a program launched at the end of 2025 —, doubling the resources via BNDES for vehicle financing to R$21.2 billion.
