World Cup: Mexico x Ecuador follow live

The Mexico team and Ecuador face each other this Tuesday (30), at 10pm (Brasília time), in a match valid for the round of 16 phase of the World Cup. The game takes place at the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City, and marks the beginning of the knockout stages for both teams.

The Mexicans beat South Africa 2-0, South Korea 1-0 and the Czech Republic 3-0 in the group stage and are one of only three teams that had 100% success in the first stage of the competition, alongside Argentina and France.

Ecuador broke a 19-game unbeaten run before the World Cup by losing to Ivory Coast 2-1 in the competition’s debut. Against Curaçao they drew 0-0 and their elimination was considered certain as they would face the powerful Germany. After starting out losing, the Ecuadorians managed an epic comeback, scoring 2-1 and securing qualification.
