Anyone who wants to get a feel for how long and cruelly the Assad clan ruled over Syria should remember the name Raghid al-Tatari. He was arrested in 1981 because he opposed ruler Hafiz al-Assad. Now, 43 years later, he has been freed from the Saidnaya torture prison in the wake of the overthrow of Hafiz’s son Bashar.
