US President-elect Donald Trump has said he “vehemently” disagrees with allowing Ukraine to use US-supplied weapons for attacks inside Russia. The speech took place during an interview with Time magazine’s 2024 “Person of the Year”.
The Republican also stated that, by allowing the use of these weapons for offensives on Russian territory, the United States is “intensifying this war and making it worse”.
“I strongly disagree with sending missiles hundreds of kilometers into Russia. Why are we doing this?” asked Trump in the interview that took place on November 25.
“We are only intensifying this war and making it worse. This should not have been allowed. Now they are making not just missiles but other types of weapons. And I think this is a very big mistake, a very big mistake”, he added.

Trump raises doubts about support for Ukraine
Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly cast doubt on the continued US support for Ukraine in the war against Russia and while in office.

The Republican declined to say in his Time interview whether he had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin since the election, but was pressed repeatedly on the question of whether he would “abandon” Ukraine’s president.
“I want to reach an agreement, and the only way to reach an agreement is not to abandon it,” Trump said.
He also commented that the war is a “tragedy” with a “staggering” number of people killed on both sides of the conflict.
“[O] “The number of dead soldiers that have been killed in the last month are numbers that are staggering, both Russian and Ukrainian, and the numbers are quite equal… the numbers of young soldiers killed in camps all over the place are staggering,” he concluded.
