Washing pillows regularly is an extremely important household duty that, unfortunately, many people forget. Some even expressly avoid it for fear of losing the softness of their pillows. If you know this simple trick, you will have no more excuses. Just use your favorite kitchen product.

Changing the bed linen for a new one is one of the regular household chores. However, many people forget that the same care should be given to the pillows on which we rest our tired heads every day. Washing them can seem like a complicated process. Some of us may even worry about losing our volume, which is completely wrong. It is enough to add a certain additive to the drum, and the pillows will be as soft as a cloud.

How to wash synthetic pillows? Keep this one thing in mind

The most common pillows on the market today are pillows made from man-made materials – silicone fibers, granules, foam, polyester and natural latex – commonly referred to as synthetic. These are said to be the best choice for allergy sufferers. People who do not have any health complications like to choose them also because of their exceptional lightness and durability. If you want to take good care of them, there is one important rule to follow when washing synthetic pillows. Before we get to it, however, it is necessary to emphasize that bed linen – regardless of its filling – should be washed at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees.

You can use your favorite washing powder or liquid for this purpose. After the end of the cycle, we move on to drying, and here we must pay special attention. In no case should you hang them on a cord by the corners on one side. This will cause the entire fabric to move to one place and be damaged. The safest method is to spread them on a flat, airy surface. Owners of electric dryers can use the machine, but they should also throw tennis balls into the drum before starting the cycle to prevent compaction. A certain additive worth throwing in the wash will also help keep the cushions soft. We all have it in the kitchen cupboard.

Washing pillows: baking soda works wonders. All unwanted stains will disappear

Baking soda is a product that our grandmothers and even great-grandmothers relied on for its beneficial properties. In the case of pillows, it works wonders not only in terms of the softness of the filling, but also removes all stains and destroys bacteria that accumulate inside our headrests. How to apply it? Simply pour 4 tablespoons of product into the washing machine drum. The effect will surely surprise you. However, if you are not convinced about washing pillows in a washing machine, you can resort to the manual cleaning method. Soak the pillows in water with baking soda and your favorite detergent, then let them soak for half an hour. After the specified time has passed, squeeze out the excess water and spread the pillows as we have already mentioned – on flat, airy surfaces. This type of action should be carried out at least once every six months.
