Lula government creates working group for diversity policies

The team’s mission will be to identify and propose affirmative actions that promote rights and equal opportunities

The Federal Government announced this Friday (24 January 2025) the formation of a Working Group aimed at developing affirmative actions, diversity, equity and inclusion. The initiative was published in (Official Gazette of the Union)through Ordinance CC/PR No. 717.

According to the text, the group will have the mission of identifying and proposing actions that promote rights and equal opportunities, in addition to articulating proposals for the implementation of these ideas. Here is it (PDF – 125kB).

The team will be composed of representatives from the departments of Social Communication, Institutional Relations, General Secretariat, and the Institutional Security Office. It will also feature a representative of the Vice-Presidency of the Republic and the Personal Office of the President of the Republic.

One of the highlights of the ordinance is the requirement that the Working Group ensure the participation of women and black people.

The initial deadline for the Working Group to present its final report to the Integrated Governance Committee of the Presidency of the Republic is 120 days after the 1st meeting. This period may be extended.
