The son of the politician, federal deputy Newton Cardoso Jr., confirmed death on social network: “With deep sadness and immense pain in the heart, I communicate the death of my dear father.”
According to him, his father was hospitalized to deal with health.
The MDB National Executive also manifested itself on a social network. He said the history of the politician was marked “by the huge amount of works he has done and that they are still recognized by the Minas Gerais people.”
Veteran of Minas Gerais politics, he held terms from the 1970s. From 1999 to 2002, he was deputy governor in the management of Itamar Franco, former President of the Republic.
More recently, he was a federal deputy from 2011 to 2015.
