A 38 -year -old man, identified as Flávio da Silva, was arrested on Sunday (2) in downtown São Paulo after being recognized by the facial recognition system of the. Sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his ex-mart, he had been on the run since December last year.

Flávio was walking down 25 de Março Street when it was identified by the system. When approached by Municipal Civil Guard agents (GCM), he tried to run away between the cars on Senador Queiroz Avenue, but was monitored by the cameras and captured within minutes.

Conviction for femicide

The crime by which Flavio was convicted occurred in Albertina (MG). He broke into the house where his ex-wife lived with his mother and sisters and, unhappy with the end of the relationship, struck knife blows against them. The ex-wife and one of the sisters were injured, while the other sister, Edivina Rafael, 43, died while trying to protect them. She was hit between the neck and the clavicle.
