Her daughter, a woman who became a worldwide symbol of rape victims, said she filed a lawsuit against her father. Dominique Pelicot has already been convicted, in a historical trial because he was falling into his ex -wife and called for strangers to rape her.
“So the other victims who experienced” this “to see that they can do something, there are legal outlets, we should never be reckoned,” Caroline Darian told the French Agency.
The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday and concerns the “drug administration” and the “sexual abuse” that “certainly committed to her” by her father, Dominique Pelicot. The latter was sentenced to 20 years in prison in December after being found guilty of being struck by his wife for years and calling on strangers to rape her home in Masan, southern France.
During the trial, Caroline Darian said she was certain that she was also a victim of her father, after seeing photos of herself unconscious, lying on a bed and wearing lingerie that she did not recognize. Pelicot was also condemned to distribute his daughter’s photos, which he unknowingly pulled, but denies that she sexually abused her.
“Yes, he denied it, but he lied many times and gave,” Caroline Darian said. “And we saw in court that Dominique was not capable of saying the full truth,” he continued, admitting that “the road would be long” until it was recognized as a victim herself.
The trial of Pelicot and his associates caused a real shock to France and abroad. Pelicot’s 50 co -defendants, aged 27 to 74, were found guilty of rape and sentenced to 3 to 15 years in prison.
