The management of statistics and census services of the administrative region of Macau reported on Wednesday (5.mar.2025) that the total population increased 0.7% in annual terms to 688,300 people at the end of 2024.
The increase was mainly due to the increase in the number of non-resident workers living in Macao. The local population, excluding non-resident workers and non-resident students, reduced 0.4% annually to 568,700 people.
The data analyzed by age group showed that the young population (0-14 years) represents 12.5% of the total population, while the elderly (65 years or older) constitute 14.6%.
Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2024, living births increased 77 in the fourth quarter of 2024, reaching 987. Mortality was 611, an increase of 13.
