The President (PT) has not defined for almost six months which will be the open of ministers of the (Superior Court of Justice), which feeds speculation and leaves offices of a court overwhelmed of proceedings under the responsibility of Interinian magistrates.

One of the vacancies will be occupied by one member of and the other, by a member of a TRF (Federal Regional Court).
Following the retirement of the ministers, the STJ itself was responsible for elaborating two lists of three names and sending them to the President of the Republic, but, amid internal disputes, only did it last October.

Both lists were voted on October 15. For the vacancy for the judges, Carlos Pires Brandão and Daniele Maranhão, from TRF-1, based in Brasilia, and by Marisa Santos, from TRF-3, based in São Paulo, were chosen.
The second list, made up of members of the Public Prosecution Service, has the Attorney of Justice Sammy Barbosa, from the Acre Public Prosecutor, the Attorney Marluce Caldas, the Public Prosecution Service of Alagoas, and that of the Federal Prosecutor.
STJ ministers of various wings and members of the federal government are unanimous in pointing out that the list of judges displeased the President of the Republic because he hoped that the name of Rogério Favreto, TRF-4 (based in Porto Alegre), was in it.

Lula is expected to choose both names in April. After the president’s choice, the nominees will still be sabbathed and approved by the Senate before taking office.
While there is no definition of Lula, the two vacancies are occupied by judges who are called to act provisionally.
Since last year, the STJ has made a number of emergency measures to lower the number of court processes in the year.
In 2024, the court received, for the first time, more than 500 thousand cases for.
