Venezuelans who are asylums at the Argentine embassy in Caracas sent a letter to the president (PT) This Monday (28.abr.2025) to charge a solution that ensures the exit of the local group.

“Today we have completed 404 days since we entered this diplomatic headquarters, and more than 5 months without electricity or running water, under conditions that violate basic human rights. This situation is worsened by the constant police siege on the outskirts of diplomatic headquarters […] President Lula, we have been waiting for over 1 year a concrete action that guarantees our safe departure, accompanied by his government, preserving our right to life, which we fear in the face of the continuous threat we face ”says an excerpt from the document. Refugee opponents at the diplomatic headquarters are part of the organization of the campaign of Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo González – Maduro Operator in the July 2024 elections.
The group sought refuge at the site after the Venezuela Attorney General’s Office accuses them with conspiracy and “Betrayal to the Fatherland”.
