Republican said US film industry is “dying very fast” because of incentives from other countries
The US President, (Republican), announced on Sunday (4.MAI.2025) a 100% rate on all foreign films. Did not say when it should start to be implemented.
The Republican said he authorized the Department of Commerce and the US Commercial Representative office to institute the tariff because the US film industry is “Dying very fast”.
According to Trump, this is the fault of other countries that offer incentives to attract filmmakers and studios “Away from the US”.
“This is a joint effort from other nations and therefore a threat to national security”said Trump on his profile at Truth Social. “Yeah, besides all, message and advertising!”wrote Trump. “We want movies made in the US, again!”.
