You may have only done it until now, but cucumbers deserve similar care. Especially those salad, known as tubes, can create an impenetrable jungle of shoots, leaves and flowers during the summer. And this can be a problem – the more strength the plant devotes lush growth, the less energy it remains on the fruit itself. The solution is simple: peeing.

When you say stuck, most gardeners recall tomatoes. But this simple but effective growing technique has much wider use. Few people know that regular shooting of shoots is also suitable for cucumbers, the so -called tubes. If we pay more attention to them, it will reward with richer and better harvest.

Experienced pending growers recommend

Cucumbers grow rapidly, and if they are allowed to grow completely freely, they can create a tangle of a shock of shoots that unnecessarily remove light and energy. The result is a smaller number of fruits and their worse quality. Experienced growers therefore recommend peeing or sciping of side shoots that arise in the leaves of the leaves. The exact procedure depends on the way of growing – otherwise it is used with cucumbers on the flower bed and otherwise in the greenhouse.

“The bipping has a beneficial effect not only on the amount of cucumbers, but also on their taste. The number of male shoots contributes to the occurrence of bitter taste. In order not only rich but also tasty, it is necessary to remove at least 80 percent of male shoots of cucumbers,” says gardener Petr Dvořák.

For greenhouse serpentine, mostly only the main shoot and several side -side recommendations are left according to the recommendations of a particular variety. For example, when growing cucumbers ‘Vista F1’ or ‘SuperStar F1’, it is advisable to break all side shoots to the height of the first four leaves. This promotes the growth of the plant upwards and prevents nutrient wasting to the leaf in the ground. From the fifth to sixth leaf it is possible to leave side shoots, but shorten them behind the first to second leaf. This method allows even the distribution of fruits and better air circulation, which is an important prevention against mold.

Adapt to individual plants

In the case of outdoor cultivation, it pays to adapt to the growth of individual plants. If some cucumber is too high at the expense of fruits, it can be cooked with the fifth to seventh leaf to branch more. At the same time, it is important to regularly remove yellow or damaged leaves and shoots that unnecessarily weaken the plant.

Skipping is no science – just a few minutes a week and the plant will be more vital and productive. In addition, due to clearer growth, the risk of disease is easier to minimize.
