The flower valued for its tolerance to light and water deficiency has its preferences. Before we start to panic, it is worth analyzing the conditions in which it grows. Here are the most common reasons for slowing down or stopping.
Zamiokulkas does not release new leaves. Causes of growth retention
One of the reasons for stopping the height of Zamiokulkas is the wrong watering. Both overflow and drying can stop its growth. The plant stores water in tubers, so excess water leads to rotting roots and tubers, which in turn prevents the nutrients needed for growth. In turn, watering too rarely causes the plant to save energy and stop producing new leaves. The position is also important. Zamiokulkas tolerates the shadow, but for proper growth needs light, diffused light. Placing it in a dark corner of the room can slow down its development. In addition, Zamiokulkas grows relatively slowly, but over time his tubers grow, occupying the entire pot. When the roots do not have room for further development, the plant focuses on survival, not on the production of new leaves. Nutrient deficiency may also be a problem. Zamiokulkas is not voracious, but regular fertilization, especially during growth (spring-summer), is necessary to provide him with the right amount of nutrients. However, in winter, Zamiokulkas is retired, which means that its growth naturally slows down. This is not a reason for concern, if the plant looks healthy. Zamiokulkas can also stop the growth due to the change of soil and pot. Transplanting is stress for the plant. After exaggeration, the flower may need time to acclimatize and start releasing new leaves. It is worth remembering that Zamiokulkas can be susceptible to fungal diseases (caused by pouring) or pests (e.g. wool).
How to stimulate Zamiokulkasa to grow?
Make sure you water the plant only when the soil in the pot is completely dry. Check the moisture of the soil with your finger or humidity meter. Avoid pouring. Move Zamiokulkasa to a place where he will have access to bright, diffused light. Avoid direct sunlight that can burn the leaves. If the roots of Zamiokulkas fill the entire pot, overdo it to a larger pot, using a permeable earth mix for succulents and cacti. During the growth period (spring-summer), the Zamiałkasa is used once every 2-3 weeks with fertilizer for green plants or succulents, diluted according to the instructions on the packaging. You can also use a homemade conditioner, which we write below. Remember that Zamiokulkas increases best at room temperature (18-24 degrees C). Avoid sudden changes in temperature and drafts. Do not put it near heat sources, such as radiators. Regularly check the leaves and stems for pests or symptoms of diseases. Use the appropriate preparation if necessary. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow it to breathe better. Patience will also be useful. Zamiokulkas grows quite slowly, so don’t expect immediate results. Give him time to acclimatize and start releasing new leaves.
Homemade fertilizer for Zamiokulkas
The intention grows poorly in poor soil, so during growth it is worth supplying the plant with fertilizer for green plants. You can also use homemade gelatin conditioner. It will enrich the plant with its needed nitrogen. It will improve root, strengthen current leaves and make new ones appear. To prepare the mixture, dissolve a teaspoon of gelatin in a glass of hot (non -splashing) water. When it cools down, add three more glasses of cold water and water the zamocouium. Repeat this treatment once a month.
