Alcohumbre vet impeachment from Moraes after riot in the Senate – 07/08/2025 – Power

The president of, (Brazil-AP), imposed defeat on pockets after refusing to proceed with the impeachment proposal of the Minister of (Supreme Federal Court).

Senators who rebelled after the former president () now try to use those who have obtained in favor of the minister’s impediment to press the president of the house.

Alcolumbre resumed the morning of Thursday, after two days when she was occupied by the amotinated scholarships. The two days when the house was prevented from having votes – Terça (5) and Wednesday (6) – are those in which there are usually more deliberations.

In addition to refusing to guide the impeachment of Moraes, alcohubre, backed by other bench leaders, refused to negotiate the vote of any other opposition project before the obstruction was closed.

“To use his words [Alcolumbre]’There is no chance that I put to vote on this matter [impeachment de Moraes]'”Said Senate leader Cid Gomes (CE) after meeting at Alcolumbre’s house on Wednesday night, when the Senate President received support to cope the rebellion.

According to Cid, Alcolumbre said that the prerogative of starting an impeachment process against a Supreme Minister is his only, even if 80 senators sign a request in this regard. There were some pockets at the meeting.

The amount of signatures for impeachment has symbolic value. Bolsonarism can now say that it is supported by most of the 81 senators for the Moraes Cassation process. The number, however, has no value from the Senate Regiment: the decision to put or not the proposal to walk only fits alcohumbre.

The report found that some of the senators contained among the signatories of Moraes’s impeachment request have placed themselves against the Bolsonarist riot. An example is that of the representative of the meeting with Alcohubre, Jayme Campos (MT), who signed the document and yet supported the president of the Senate.

Cid spoke to journalists after most leaders left the alcohubre house. Representatives of the Bolsonarist opposition were for a second conversation. They wanted to have a separate meeting.

In this second meeting, the Senate president scolded the pockets, according to the Sheete He said he would not negotiate the voting agenda while the plenary was blocked. It also made it clear that there would be no more dialogue between him and the group if the rebellion was not closed on Thursday (7).

On the morning of Thursday, after the night meetings, Bolsonarist leaders talked in the Senator’s Office (-MS). From there they went to the plenary to find the allies and vacated the place.

“The 41st signature that requires the opening of the impeachment process of Minister Alexandre de Moraes for the crimes of responsibility committed,” said the opposition leader (PL-RN), when leaving the plenary, has now been recently apparent.

Marinho said the number is a victory for his group. “We now hope that the president of the House, Senator David Alcolumbre, receiving this document, finding that most of his peers have this intention, evaluate how this process can be opened,” said the opposition leader.

The 41st signature was from Senator Laércio Oliveira (PP-SE). He showed resistance to endorsing the document, but was convinced in the morning.

Leaders heard by the report say there were no agreement between alcohumbre and the pockets, but what would be an honorable exit built by opposition senators near the president of the house.

Alcolumbre went to the Senate plenary when the space had already been released by the pockets.

The scenario was different from that faced by the mayor, (). The deputy had to pave his way among colleagues rebelled and. Also, the former mayor (PP-AL) to negotiate the resumption of plenary control.

A alcohumbre meeting with Senate party leaders was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. It would be the space for the pockets, with the closed rebellion, negotiate projects of interest. The meeting, however, stayed for next week.

The impeachment of Moraes is part of a set of proposals that Jair Bolsonaro’s allied congressmen have called the “Peace Package”, which also includes the amnesty processed by the coup plot that culminated in the attacks on the headquarters on January 8 and the end of the special forum.
