War in the Middle East, live: last hour of the conflict between Israel and Gaza

El Periódico

A group of 27 countries, including Spain, and the European Union as a block have warned that the level of suffering has reached “unimaginable levels” in the Gaza Strip, so they have demanded “urgent” measures that allow containing and reversing the serious food insecurity of the population.

“The humanitarian space must be protected and the aid should not be politicized,” says a text released on Tuesday and subscribing, among other governments, those of the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland.

Countries have urged the Benjamin Netanyahu government to authorize the work of helping international organizations and agencies, at a time when there are necessary “immediate, permanent and concrete measures” aimed at guaranteeing humanitarian work on the ground, for example through the fluid entry of help in the strip.
