Επιστολή από 209 πρώην πρέσβεις και ανώτερα στελέχη της ΕΕ για τη Γάζα

A few days before the informal meeting of its Foreign Ministers, which will take place on Friday (29/08) a total of 209 people in a letter call for immediate sanctions against him for what is happening in.

Specifically, it is for 110 (74 former ambassador and 30 EU general managers and other senior executives as well as 99 ambassadors of the Member States. It is an unprecedented initiative, proposing a series of immediate actions.

In their letter they speak of “Violations of humanitarian law and human rights committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank after Hamas’ heinous attacks on October 7, 2023”.

The letter substantiates the alarming deterioration of the situation on the spot in the last four weeks in the occupied Palestinian territories, which culminated with the IPC declaring starvation in Gaza sections on August 22, affecting half a million people.

Being aware of increasing public concern in Europe, the signatories are convinced that the EU “He cannot remain indifferent to these alarming events and must take substantial and effective measures now, otherwise Member States should act, individually or in groups of similar countries, a necessary but inferior effect compared to a single EU approach.”.

All signatories in this letter have devoted decades of their professional lives to defending the principles and values of the EU for the good of its peoples. The fact that they have now united to support this initiative reflects their deep collective concern for the ‘Inaction of the Union’.

As they argue “This weakens the EU’s worldwide credibility in the eyes of its own citizens and in the eyes of the world.”.
