Aceino “Popó” Freitas and Wanderlei Silva starred in a tumultuous duel on Saturday night (27) in Sao Paulo, in the main fight of Spaten Fight Night 2. The confrontation, scheduled for eight rounds, was interrupted in the fourth stage after repeated warnings to the former pride luteter. Following, team members broke into the ring and a widespread fight took over the scene.
Spaten Fight Night has a special format, recognized by the National Boxing Council (CNB), but outside the professional circuit. The broadcast yielded 14 audience points to Globo in São Paulo.
During the clash, Wanderlei was punished by header in Popó and, insisting on moving down with his head, had the struggle ended by the referee. Already, during the widespread fight, Wand was knocked out when she was punched by one of the members of the Popó team. The legend of MMA was unconscious in the ring until the intervention of security.
The event, promoted by Spaten brewery, bets on the mixture of entertainment and martial arts with a gala night, with audience restricted to guests and the press. So far, organization and athletes have not commented on what happened.
