US President Donald Trump personally assured interlocutors of his commitment as guarantor of the plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, an American official told CNN this Thursday (9).
Trump felt it was important to tell the Arab mediators – and, through them, Hamas – that he would maintain “every principle and aspect” of his 20-point proposal and “that he was guaranteeing that people would do, with the best intentions, exactly what they said they would do,” according to the source.
They noted the mistrust between Israel and Hamas, as well as some of the Arab nations, and stated that Trump “wanted to make it very, very clear that it was important to him.”
“There were times when the president actually spoke on the phone with… interlocutors. And it was very, very spontaneous,” the official reported.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously mentioned that Trump “had some who demanded a high degree of intensity and commitment, and he made it happen.”
