It is considered the most dangerous mushroom in Polish forests phallus fly agaric, which is also known as green fly agaric. It belongs to the toadstool family and is highly poisonous. It’s a mushroom that may cause fatal poisoningwhich is why it is crucial to be able to recognize this species and to collect only specimens that you are 100% sure about.
Toadstool is commonly found in deciduous and mixed forests. It grows from July even until late Novemberwhich is why it is present almost throughout the entire mushroom season. According to statistics, it is responsible for most fatal poisonings in Poland.
Unfortunately it is often confused with several edible mushrooms, such as kites, lovebirds and green geese. The consequences of such a mistake may turn out to be tragic, because this fungus contains highly toxic compoundswhich lead to liver and kidney damage.
Unfortunately, its taste does not indicate that there is “something wrong” with it, because people who have experienced poisoning describe it as “pleasant and tasty”. Symptoms of poisoning appear with a delayeven 8 to 24 hours after eating a meal in which the phallus mushroom was present. The first symptoms are usually nausea and vomiting, and then the condition of the poisoned person deteriorates rapidly.
