Casa Pia in Lisbon hosted another edition of Hospital da Bonecada. The project, developed by Medicine and Nursing students, involves around a thousand children. The objective is to demystify some health topics.
The shift started early in the morning. He put on his gown, went through triage and the operating room. Baquita, Rodrigo and Melissa fulfilled their dream of becoming doctors in an almost real hospital for three days. They learned everything from basic care to preparing for surgery. The first user of Baquita… was the bear Tinoni.
Hospital da Bonecada has been taking place across the country for 24 years. Every year, with the help of stuffed animals, they teach children about health care and demystify a trip to the doctor. In this edition, the hospital was improvised at Colégio Maria Pia, in Lisbon. A place where these types of activities are part of the school’s routine.
Hospital da Bonecada emerged at Hospital Dona Estefânia and was nationally recognized. In 2007, it received the “Hospital of the Future” award given by the Portuguese Society of Pediatrics.
