After missing inauguration, Tarcísio returns to Brasília for a meeting with Fachin

Governor of São Paulo had not traveled to the federal capital for a month; before, he had intense schedules in the city

The governor of São Paulo, disembarks in this Tuesday (29). He leaves at around 12pm and returns on Wednesday (30) in the afternoon. Among the main commitments is a meeting with the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), . The trip was confirmed at the last minute, after efforts by the State Attorney General, Inês Coimbra. A month ago, Tarcísio was in Brasília on the day of Fachin’s inauguration, but ended up . On the agenda is the dispute involving ICMS evasion in the fuel sector.

This will be the first meeting between the two – and also the first since September 7, when Tarcísio raised his tone against the Court for the first time. On that date, he called minister Alexandre de Moraes a “tyrant” and questioned the judgment of former president Jair Bolsonaro. People close to the governor say that he is “very sorry” for his speech, and that he got carried away by the moment of euphoria during the protest. Tarcísio, until then, was known for his good relationship with the Court and for being a more moderate figure.

In addition to the meeting, the head of the São Paulo Executive will also have an audience with the minister of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice) Marco Aurélio Bellizze. On Wednesday, he participates in the affiliation of federal deputy Pedro Lupion (PR) to the Republicans. The parliamentarian is the president of the FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front) in the National Congress. The ceremony will be led by the national president of the Republicans and attorney for the Marcos Pereira (SP), and will be attended by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, in addition to parliamentarians and national leaders of the party.
