1st BPM tactician arrests armed man and prevents possible criminal attack in Rio Branco

A quick action by the Tactician of the 1st Battalion of the Military Police of Acre (PMAC) resulted in the arrest of Antônio José dos Anjos da Silva, aged 38, on the afternoon of this Friday (31), in the Belo Jardim neighborhood, in the Second District of Rio Branco. The suspect was caught armed in the parking lot of a supermarket and, according to preliminary information, was about to participate in a possible criminal attack.

The operation began after an anonymous tip reported that a man was waiting for another individual at the location, carrying firearms and allegedly planning an armed action in the Cadeia Velha neighborhood. Given the seriousness of the situation, the Tactical teams set up a siege in the area and managed to carry out the approach.

During the personal search, the police found two pistols, one 9 mm caliber, with 15 ammunition, and the other 6.35 caliber.

Antônio was arrested and taken to the Central Flagrantes Police Station (DEFLA). At the unit, agents found that he already had a criminal record for robbery and drug trafficking.

In his statement, the suspect denied involvement with criminal factions, however, the Civil Police will continue to investigate the origin of the weapons and Antônio’s possible connection with criminal groups operating in the capital of Acre.
