Marathon in Porto breaks record with more than 15 thousand participants

Porto put on their sneakers again for the 21st edition of the EDP Marathon. This year the event broke the record with 15,500 participants and almost 100 nationalities.

With sneakers on and focus on each step, in the 21st edition of the EDP Maratona do Porto, 15 thousand participants ran to the beat of overcoming. The race started from Sea Life, entered the heart of the city and extended along the banks of the Douro River and the sea in Matosinhos.

The participants had music to liven up the journey and also the support of those who could be heard more closely.

The event gained an international dimension and became a true moving world map: 90 nationalities filled half of the list of total participants.

The big winner was Kenyan Aspel Kiprop, who crossed the finish line in 2 hours 13 minutes and 7 seconds.

The first Portuguese was Carlos Costa, who reached 6th place.
