Gusts of wind that went from 80 km/h provoked flight delays and cancellations at São Paulo airports this Wednesday (10). For safety reasons, landings and takeoffs were suspended, especially in the early morning.
In Congonhas, approximately 10 flights were switched to other airports and two departures were canceled because of the wind.
According to the Emergency Management Center (CGE), those in the South, Central-West and Southeast regions caused meteorological alerts in 9 states. The expectation is that conditions will only improve in the coming days.
In a statement, Aena stated that, despite the disruption, Congonhas Airport is already operating normally this afternoon.
“Aena informs that Congonhas Airport operates normally this Wednesday (10), being open to receive landings and takeoffs. Even so, due to airline operational decisions due to strong winds, there were 10 alternate flights to other airports, 3 arrivals and 2 departures canceled..”
