The entity that controls national football must still decide whether the vice-president will be entitled to a direct place or whether he will go to the pre-Libertadores.
The issue had already been the subject of debate for several months in the halls of the CBF. The measure aims to further enhance the tournament that boasts the biggest prize pool in Brazilian football. To compensate for this distribution, the CBF will take a place from the Libertadores via Brasileirão. Other news will mark next year’s edition. The confederation defined that the first five phases will be played in a single game. The knockout stages of the round of 16, quarters and semi-finals continued in the round-trip system.
Series A teams will enter from the fifth round onwards. Another change will be aimed at the title dispute, which will be decided in a single game between the two finalists. The date has already been defined: December 6th, at the end of the Brazilian football season, in a venue to be defined by the entity.
