Is gravity a quantum theory? Or to put it another way: Does gravity also work in the form of tiny packets of energy? This question has probably been the most important in fundamental physics for decades. There is still no simple solution, only a few incomplete approaches that have names like string theory, loop quantum gravity, canonical quantum gravity or asymptotically safe gravity.
