DF – BOLSONARO/STF/TRIAL/CONVICTION/27 YEARS – POLITICS – **ALTERNATIVE CUTTING** Former president Jair Bolsonaro made an appearance lasting around 20 minutes on the morning of this Thursday, September 11, 2025, in front of the house where he is under house arrest, in Brasília (DF). This evening, the First Panel of the Federal Supreme Court set the sentence for Bolsonaro, convicted of attempting to carry out a coup d’état after losing the 2022 elections, at 27 years and three months in an initial closed regime – 24 years and nine months in prison and 2 years and six months in detention, with a 124-day fine (equivalent to two minimum wages). The ministers followed the vote of rapporteur Alexandre de Moraes. 09/11/2025

The minister of , authorized, this Friday (19), the surgery of the former president after the expertise of the Federal Police (PF) found that it needed to be carried out as “as soon as possible”.

“I support the carrying out of the ‘elective surgical repair’ indicated as necessary in the Federal Police Report, and the Defense must express its opinion on the intended schedule and date for carrying out the elective surgery. After the Defense’s statement, the files must be sent to the PGR, for an opinion within 24 hours”, says the decision.

Bolsonaro’s medical team has already informed that the former president will need to be hospitalized for a period of five to seven days.

However, the minister denied the request for house arrest, alleging “absence of legal requirements for granting it” and reiterated “non-compliance with the various precautionary measures of the prison and the various concrete acts aimed at the escape”.

“The custodial Jair Messias Bolsonaro, therefore, does not have the right to house arrest, as he was sentenced to a custodial sentence in a closed regime, for committing very serious crimes against the Democratic Rule of Law, carried out with violence and serious threat, as well as for leading a complex criminal organization made up of public agents and infiltrated in the highest levels of government bodies”, states Moraes.

This Friday, . “In view of the above, this expert Medical Board concludes that the expert Jair Bolsonaro has a bilateral inguinal hernia that requires elective surgical repair”, says the note. “In terms of hiccups, phrenic nerve block is technically relevant. Regarding the timeliness of the procedure, this Medical Board understands that it should be carried out as soon as possible, given the refractoriness to the established treatments”, he adds.

Bolsonaro has been detained for almost a month in a closed regime, in a special cell on the Federal Police premises in the Federal District. He was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
