Venezuela’s opposition leader insists he should be in charge of the country; USA has supported Delcy Rodríguez
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), will meet with the leader of the opposition in Venezuela and, in Washington, this Thursday (15.Jan.2026).
The meeting, last week, will be held at the White House, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time). According to , they will meet for lunch.
The meeting will be held after those in Venezuela that culminated in that of the then president (PSUV, left). He and his wife, , were taken from Caracas and taken to New York, where they are being held in connection with drug trafficking.
It will be the first meeting between Trump and Corina, who declared at the beginning of the week since October 2025.
Trump. He declared that “She doesn’t have the internal support or respect [necessários] within the country.” In an interview with Fox Newsthe North American president also commented on the political situation in Venezuela: “We need to rebuild the country. They couldn’t have an election. They wouldn’t even know how to hold an election now.”
Corina, however, insists that her coalition should “absolutely” be in charge of the country. The US has supported (MSV, left) as interim president.
